School discipline system

Merits:

A merit will be awarded, among others, for the following:

  • Academic performance
  • Academic progress
  • Diligence
  • Participating in the Eisteddfod, Netball and Soccer
  • Enthusiasm (going the extra mile)
  • Honesty (Handing in lost property etc)
  • No demerits for six months
  • Not absent – quarterly / yearly
  • Office bearers (in recognition of their duty)
  • Participation (not academic)
  • Reporting vandalism / bad behaviour etc
  • Volunteering extra help
  • Exemplary behaviour
  • Taking responsibility

Various rewards, in the form of merit badges, trophies, special privileges etc will be implemented in a graded fashion depending on the amount of merits a learner has accumulated.

Demerits:

A demerit will be awarded, among others, for the following:

  • Absent without an apology / truancy
  • Arrogance
  • Assignment handed in late / Books not signed
  • Bullying
  • Cell phones / earphones / ipods / illegal items
  • Copying homework / Work incomplete
  • Dishonesty
  • Disobedience
  • Disrespectful
  • Disruptive in class
  • Eating in class / chewing gum
  • Failed test
  • Foul play in sport / poor sportsmanship
  • Homework not done
  • Ignoring an order
  • Late for class

 

  • Littering
  • Not doing assigned duties (Prefects, Scholar Patrol)
  • Personal appearance (Jewellery, uniform, nails)
  • Poor behaviour (Spitting, shoving, hiding property etc)
  • Racism
  • Reply slips / forms not returned
  • Rowdiness
  • Script / Text book not in class / lost
  • Sulking / not accepting admonishment
  • Swearing / Teasing / Belittling
  • Theft
  • Threatening / Intimidation
  • Vandalism
  • Vernacular

 

Various disciplinary measures, ranging from being put on Daily Report to being suspended or expelled will be implemented in a graded fashion according to the amount of demerits accumulated by the learner.
